The Unbeatable Charm of Reese’s: A Flavor Combination You Can’t Resist

While seasonal flavors like peppermint often steal the spotlight during holidays, there’s a timeless classic that always brings us back to our roots: Reese’s! There’s simply nothing quite like the harmonious marriage of creamy peanut butter and luscious chocolate. When these iconic flavors are incorporated into a dessert, it transforms it from good to absolutely swoon-worthy.

This Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Pound Cake recipe celebrates that beloved combination. It’s designed to deliver maximum flavor with minimal effort, making it a perfect choice for busy bakers and dessert enthusiasts alike. Whether you’re a long-time fan of Reese’s candies or simply love a decadent cake, this recipe is guaranteed to satisfy your sweet cravings.

Elevating a Boxed Cake Mix to Bakery-Quality Perfection

The secret weapon behind this outrageously decadent pound cake? A simple yellow cake mix! Yes, you read that right. We’re taking an awesome shortcut, but trust us, no one will ever suspect that this moist and flavorful cake started from a box. With a few smart additions, you can transform an ordinary cake mix into something truly extraordinary.

Years ago, my sister shared a game-changing tip that forever altered my approach to boxed cake mixes: substitute milk for the water typically called for on the package. This simple switch works wonders! Milk adds a richer flavor and a much more tender, moist crumb to the cake, making it taste homemade and luxurious. This one trick alone can elevate any cake mix to a whole new level of deliciousness.

But we don’t stop there. By incorporating creamy peanut butter directly into the batter, along with vanilla extract and extra eggs, we infuse the cake with a profound nutty flavor and a dense, rich texture that is characteristic of a true pound cake. The addition of Reese’s peanut butter chips and mini semi-sweet chocolate chips throughout ensures every bite is a delightful explosion of flavor and texture. This recipe proves there’s no limit to the wonderful things you can achieve with a humble cake mix!

The Perfect Glaze: A Sweet Crown for Your Pound Cake

No Reese’s-inspired cake would be complete without a luscious glaze, and this recipe delivers a show-stopping finish. The incredible peanut butter chocolate glaze is incredibly simple to make yet adds an immense amount of richness and visual appeal. It’s created by gently melting semi-sweet chocolate chips and creamy peanut butter together until smooth and glossy. This glaze drapes beautifully over the cooled pound cake, creating a tempting layer of flavor.

To take it over the top, we sprinkle coarsely chopped miniature Reese’s peanut butter cups directly onto the still-soft glaze. As the glaze sets, these candy pieces adhere, adding another layer of texture, color, and unmistakable Reese’s flavor. The slight crunch of the chocolate cups against the soft cake and smooth glaze creates an unforgettable dessert experience. This final touch makes the cake not just delicious, but truly spectacular and celebration-worthy.

Ingredients

  • 18.25 ounces yellow cake mix (1 box)
  • 1 cup Almond Breeze Almondmilk Cashewmilk Blend
  • ⅓ cup creamy peanut butter (I used Skippy Naturals)
  • 3 eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Reese’s peanut butter chips
  • 1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

Glaze

  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 6 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 20 miniature Reese’s peanut butter cups (coarsely chopped)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 12-cup bundt pan. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the cake mix, milk, peanut butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is thoroughly combined and smooth.
  4. Gently fold in the Reese’s peanut butter chips and mini chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  5. Pour the prepared batter into the greased bundt pan. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the bundt pan for 15 minutes. Then, gently invert it onto a wire cooling rack or a plate to cool completely for several hours. Ensure the cake is fully cooled before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting.
  7. Once the cake has cooled completely, it’s time to prepare the delectable glaze.

Glaze

  1. In a microwave-safe container (a Pyrex measuring cup works perfectly), combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and creamy peanut butter. Heat on high for 30 seconds, then stir well. Repeat this process, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring after each, until the chocolate chips are fully melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  2. Pour the warm, smooth glaze evenly over the top of the cooled pound cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  3. Wait approximately 5 minutes for the glaze to begin setting slightly, then generously sprinkle the coarsely chopped miniature Reese’s peanut butter cups over the top. Gently press them into the glaze to ensure they adhere.
  4. For the best results and a firm glaze, refrigerate the cake for at least 15 minutes, or until the glaze has fully set. Slice and serve!
